Shore/Ladder Outings

Shore/Ladder Outings

Pyramid Lake is an unusual fly-fishing lake for trout. There is truly little structure, hardly any weeds or weed beds. The lake is huge and has a very sandy bottom in most places. The dynamics of the lake make it the perfect lake to target the huge Lahontan Cutthroat Trout that live there from the shoreline. A huge reason that fly-fishing from some type of ladder or platform is so popular. Our guide service is primarily done from shore and our Outings program evolved as a result. If you are going to be a Pyramid Lake angler, you pretty much have to become efficient at shore angling.

We meet at the lake in the early morning hours at a designated location at the lake. The days are filled with fishing from ladders or wading in the water, targeting huge Lahontan Cutthroat Trout. We have tables set up for rigging and get anglers in the water as soon as possible to take advantage of the early morning bite that is quite common.

We will spend two days on the water fishing and learning. Our guides spend the day with the anglers in the water and on the beach taking care of rigging, teaching casting techniques, landing fish, and helping to take pictures.

A complete Pre-Trip Planner will be sent to you once you are signed up for the outing. Included in the planner are the things you will need to bring. Some of the items are pretty mandatory including a fly rod and waders. Ladders will be provided. Equipment like rods and waders are not included in our outings unless prior arrangements have been made.

Accommodations – Deals at local hotels will be available and in our Pre-Trip Planner. Camping at the lake is a blast this time of your and we encourage you to join us at the lake. You can dry camp at the beach we are fishing or there is an R.V. park at the lake with full hookups. Camping permits are required and need to be purchased in advance.

Permits – You will need a fishing permit to fish on the reservation. You will also need a camping permit if you intend to camp. Links to both of these will be in our pre-trip planner.

Food – During the outing we will serve coffee and a snack in the morning and hot lunches both days. Kicking back and having a meal served for you while hanging out on the shores of the lake is a big reason why we have such a high rate of return from our outings customers.

Cost for Private outings are $1400 a day for up to 8 anglers with one guide and one host  – $1700 a day for up to 12 anglers with 2 guides and one host  – Not included in the price are Tribal Permits, gear (unless prior arrangements have been made) and gratuities to the staff and guides.

Public Outings are $295 per person for a two day outing.
