Pyramid Lake

If ever the word perfect needed a place this, is it. You cannot ask for anything more. The conditions are exactly like we talk about, and the fishing is as one of our clients stated, W.F.O.

At Pyramid just like other fisheries, that does not mean that the fish eat all day every day. You have to be there when it happens. The techniques are specific to this time of year and if you know how to fish the lake in June you are in for a treat. The days are long right now and 15 hours of daylight make it tough to fish all day, pick your spots and fish hard and you might hook into one of these amazing fish that are chowing down on Tui Chub Minnows right now getting fat after the spawn.

The water is warming fast in the shallows and on the surface. It is already in the mid 60’s in some areas. Fish are spending more and more time in deeper water preparing for the summer. The fish are eating fish right now. Not midges. That is your hint to how to approach the lake.

Area Lakes

Frenchman’s and Davis are sleepers these days after going through a few years of drought and miss management. Both lakes are in great shape and have water and have been stocked with some nice fish. June offers the fish a plethora of food to eat from Midges, Callabaetis, Caddis, Blood Midges, Water Boatman, snails, scuds you name it and it is on the menu right now. There are a ton of lakes to go fishing, camping and have success right now.

Streams

We just had an almost 100% winter in regard to the snowpack. This means that the runoff and the water storage is normal. The flows are going to be close to normal on most of the area streams and rivers. Truckee, Little Truckee, East Walker, East Carson all have fishable conditions right now and lots of life.

If you need a shove to get outside and go do something you love right now then we hope our fishing advice and report will help. Life is short, go live it.
