Pyramid Lake has become a popular fly fishing destination ever since the introduction of the Pilot Peak strain of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout gave Pyramid a new look and some of the largest trout in the world. Anglers head to the lake every year in search of the fish of a lifetime.
Early Mornings and last light have always been an important time to have your flies in the water at the lake. Long days in the spring and 30-45 minute rides to hotels make it even tougher to target the best times of day. Spending 12-14 hours on the beach and the cold water with nowhere to get out of the cold except the front seat of a car is also taxing.
This year we are offering our clients a very special way to target these amazing fish. A way to spend as much of the best part of the day on the water. A way to minimize travel and to experience Pyramid Lake the best way possible. Staying right where you are going to fish….for free…..
The Experience
Imagine waking up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and the sound of rolling waves in the surf. It is 45 minutes before first light and your guide is hard at work. Ladders are in position; rods are rigged and ready for the day. All that is needed is for the anglers to climb out of their beds in their brand new Beach Camper, and dress for the day. Waders are hanging inside and dry from the propane heater that keeps the entire room warm and hot coffee is on the stove. Breakfast will be served a little later in the morning after a good first light session on the water. This is the most important time of the day and staying right on the beach makes it easy to be on the water at first light.
The 411
Our new Utility Trailers have been redesigned to provide our clients with the opportunity to stay on the beach during their fishing trip. Equipped with two beds, solar power with backup power to run lights, coffee pot, c-pap machines, just about anything. A propane Mr. Buddy heater is more than enough to keep the trailer warm on even the coldest of nights. The camper is also a great place to get out of the weather when taking breaks or even a midday nap.
These trailers were designed by our guides. Our guides like to stay on the beach. The first trailer design was by Jeremy, our head guide. Living in Lake Tahoe and dealing with a two hour drive to the lake and sleeping in the back of his truck, Jeremy figured out fast a better way to stay at the lake.
Our Beach campers are Lightweight Utility trailers fully enclosed with two beds, lights, heat, charging ports and some simple kitchen items including a hot pot for water for coffee and Tea. These trailers are easily towed to just about any beach at the lake and a breeze to set up. During our guided peach package our guides will even do the set up and take down. All you have to do is show up ready to fish.
Staying on the beach with your guide is so much fun. Our Spring offering looks like this.
Show up the afternoon before your first fishing day and get settled into your camper. Rig up rods and organize gear while having a home cooked meal on a Traeger Grill right on the beach. After a cocktail or two, settle in for the night and get a good night’s sleep on a real twin XL mattress.
Wake up early on your first fishing day and get on the water at first light. Staying on the beach allows you to fish and take breaks all day and fish until you cannot see. Then walk up the beach to your home away from home and do it all over again the next day. Meals are included on Beach Experience packages as well so guests can show up and be completely taken care of.
